Tinta del País from the El Cardenal estate, a 5.3-hectare vineyard located at 880 meters above sea level in the province of Burgos. The soil is composed of limestone sediments, clayey soils, and stony areas in the higher parts of the estate, providing complexity and structure to the wine. Vineyards average 50-70 years of age.

Production

Post-fermentation maceration. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks and barrels. Ageing is carried out for a minimum of 29 months in semi-new 225-litre American oak barrels and 16 months in fourth-use French Allier oak barrels with medium toasting. Clarification and stabilisation. To preserve its quality, it is not subjected to any physical treatment, which may cause slight precipitation. Vinified and bottled on the property, it rests for a minimum of 16 months in the bottle before being released.

Tasting Notes

Deep garnet colour with brick-red edges, intense robe, very clean and satiny. Spicy aromas, evoking toasted and balsamic nuances with hints of coffee and liquorice. Its good structure gives it a dense and pleasant palate.
